Every fairy tale should have a compelling story, interesting characters, amazing locations and a glamorous slipper.
Bonjour Fleurette, founded in Sausalito, California is headquartered half way between the glamorous city of San Francisco and the stunning Wine Country in the City of San Rafael.
The company actually found its step on the streets of Paris. A group of friends and current President, Judi Flowers and Co-founder Greta Yerian found themselves in a Paris Hotel gluing vintage flowers on black slippers during the world famous Fashion Week. “We wanted to give a little gift to our friends from Christian Dior…our feet were hurting…who would have thought what was an act of irreverent ‘girlish’ fun would create a company. Soon we had demand for our slippers and a lot of celebrity interest… so voila! A business was started!
Judi was born into the business, her mother was a Lingerie buyer for 50 years. Judi started her retail career at 13 years old and then worked for I. Magnin on the College Board and then modeled for Joseph Magnin’s in San Francisco. After college she moved to Honolulu where she was a ‘baby buyer’. After manufacturing computerized safes for boutique hotel rooms she yearned to get back to the fashion industry.
Judi is the type of woman who is as comfortable in Yves St. Laurent and Gucci as she is in great leggings from Target…going to the opera and eating at In & Out on the way home as she is on the streets of Hong Kong, Paris, Milan and New York.
‘Life is different now but good taste doesn’t cost much.
I think women want fun fashion…extravagant wardrobes and over spending is not ‘cool’…that’s why we have tried to create products that are priced well and fun.’
“Reaching out to others not just because we can but because it’s the right thing to do. Our slippers are on the streets of Irag…in woman’s shelters and hospice units all over the country. You have to admit…looking down at your feet with big flowers on your slippers has got to make you smile” says Judi.
Judi’s charisma and her love of fashion has led her to be a frequent guest on talk shows nationwide. “She always has a open invitation to comeback…we get great ratings when Judi comes on…it’s like talking to a girlfriend…she loves what she does…her enthusiasm is contagious….we always get great gift ideas” Producer GMA.
